long post all about popiah -.- ..

After TKS 12 yesterday dad asked if i wanted to go and eat at the coffee shop.. was reluctant at first but agreed to go anyways..

I mentioned my craving for popiah and i think he might have wanted some too so off we went to medan selera taman eng ann... we decided to tapau and go to the coffee shop so that we get good popiah and good drinks..instead of lousy popiah sold at coffee shop but good drinks...hehe

I was supposed to go down and get the popiahs... and i only saw one stall.. Tan Kee Poh Pia ...the guy sells Leng Ci Kang too... anyway.. dad remembered there was another stall owned by a lady but i said.."How can one place got 2 popiah stall?????????" and made the kinda face at him that he just said "ok ok ...go and buy"

I very very very very rarely eat outside popiah coz every experience of it has been bad.. we have popiah parties at home once in a while and nothing beats the popiah we make at home...or rather the popiah ingredients that mum prepares.. -.- .. we always compete with each other on who has the prettiest popiah wrapped :) ...

anyway.. back to the popiah yesterday... i was pleasantly surprised because that popiah was really not bad at all.. lots of people were buying from him which was a good sign.. just that the next time i have it i'll tell the guy not to put any "pork fat" (that's what we call it in chinese but i'm not really sure if it's the pork skin fried..)..

after going home and reporting to mum she said there in fact WAS another popiah lady... and they said they used to buy from her and she was quite good...

and now i must admit... popiah is one of my favourite food so please don't think of me as a monster (or pregnant -.- ) ... but i had another popiah craving today... and i wanted to try the lady's popiah... i thought i was out of luck when mum prepared the porridge before going out to work but she came back around 3+ and she was nice enough to offer to lemme buy my popiah.. ngiak ngiak ngiak...

I found the lady's stall which is at another end of the strip of hawker stalls.. her's is called "Madam Kuan's po piah".. There were significantly less people there than Tan Kee's stall... this time i told her not to chop it up so it wouldn't get too soggy.. and i ate it in the car..hehe..

Once again..if i eat there again i'd definitely ask for no pork fat...the difference between tan kee's pork fat and madam kuan's is probably tan kee's is more discrete..it doesn't taste so obvious and disgusting.. they have slightly different ingredients.. but i'd have to say tan kee's is more tasty.. coz he had fried shallots... but i don't remember tan kee having egg and "tau gua" whereas madam kuan has..

All in all... i'd probably eat from tan kee's the next time but..i can't say madam kuan was lousy either.. if i could sit there and eat i'd probably order one from each stall and make a better judgement.. -.- ...
