Racism or preference?

Mum sent me to piano class today :) .. been a long time since she sent me..

She recently redeemed a mini pan from Giant which i asked her about in the morning then in the car she said "if you really go overseas this year you can bring the pan with you :D " then after talking a while she said "wa.. imagine if you go in september.. now already february.. so fast hor?"

And then i realised.. wahh.. she also has that maternal "don't let kid leave me too fast" instinct.. i thought she was cool with it all and back when we thought i could fly (after form 5) she didn't seem bothered by it.. but i really really hope that if i do get to fly i can go on the first trip without them..else i'll probably never learn.. i don't mind if they come see me a week later :) ..

So when she picked me up we also chit chatted.. i'll skip a bunch of not important stuff..else i won't get to the subject matter.. we were talking about her friend's daughters. one married to a caucasian, another dating an indian.. so her friend didn't really approve of the indian bf (both also 鬼 (ghost) - one white, one dark ).. and so mum said something like "now you know what to do harr.. dun go and find a 'ghost' " which initiated my debate with her..

I told her something like.. you're being a racist.. i guess to them it's probably because of media (tv shows with all the sex and the cheating and etc) or they just can't seem to accept it.. while i may not deny that it possibly may be more common abroad (countries with caucasians) compared to over here that the guys would date girls just for fun or for sex.. BUT it does not mean that chinese guys wouldn't do the same mah.. it's not like all those China men or Malaysian Chinese guys won't have affairs.. not like all Chinese are so "pure".. not like all Chinese don't believe in pre-marital sex... and same thing probably goes for religion..

I then gave her examples of her friends who married with non-Chinese guys to try and make her think twice about what she said coz her friends are doing fine.. and the lamest excuse my mum said was if you marry a guy from overseas then you have to move to their country and she even said, i quote "home is here.." then i immediately told her.. "you can ask the person to stay in your country wan mah.. and what for you ask me to get PR elsewhere then????" then she "ohh... that's different" -.- .. haih... weird mum..

I mean.. guys are guys mah.. it doesn't matter the race or the country they came from.. what matters is the individual..

so after our very long debate she still said "next time go and find a 华人 (chinese guy) lah.." then i immediately said.. "NO!! Find a 好人 (good guy) !!! " -.-''' ...

this shows that you can't teach old dogs new tricks ..
